Driftwood is an essential part of a freshwater aquarium, particularly ecosystem type tanks and those containing detrivores or other unique feeders such as Plecos, Nano Shrimp and Snails.

Driftwood will enhance the health of your livestock as it provides a surface for biofilm and micro crustaceans to grow, essential nutrients for almost all tank dwellers. 

Tannins are also provided by the driftwood over time and these are known to control the Ph of water whilst calming certain species of fish and simulating the natural composition found in wild bodies of water.
